Why keep your entry confirmations?
The answer
Payment done, dog entered… can you delete the email? Better keep it close to hand! Your supporting documents let you find your entry, check the information recorded and make communication with the organisers easier.
MyDogShow tip: on show day, keep them to hand: reception may ask you for the acknowledgement of receipt or the exhibitor card at the entrance.
Two documents, two roles
On SCC Expo (the French kennel club’s online entry platform), the payment receipt normally arrives immediately after a successful payment. The invitation is sent later, after entries close and a few days before the event.
| Document to keep | What is it for? |
|---|---|
| Payment receipt | Tracing the transaction and the amount paid. |
| Entry summary, when available | Checking the dog entered, the event, the class and the options recorded. |
| Invitation, exhibitor card or e-card | Preparing your arrival and showing the document the organiser asks for. |
| Exchanges about a change | Keeping a record of the request and the reply received. |
The receipt and the exhibitor card complement each other. Check your event’s instructions to see which document to show and in what format.
Beginner — three easy habits
- File the receipt as soon as you get it. Create a “Shows” folder in your email, then a subfolder for each event. You will find the right document without searching through all your emails.
- Check the information available. Verify the dog’s name, the date, the class and the options. If anything doesn’t match your request, report it quickly through the procedure provided. SCC Expo has specific procedures depending on the type of change.
- Download your invitation before you leave. Keep a copy that is accessible offline. If the organiser asks for a printed version, prepare it the day before: the show car park is rarely the best place to look for a printer!
Intermediate — three habits to avoid mix-ups
- Don’t confuse a late invitation with a forgotten entry. On SCC Expo, the invitation arrives after the closing date, a few days before the event. Its absence just after payment is therefore not abnormal. However, check that you did receive the payment receipt.
- Finding a lost email is possible. On SCC Expo, open “My account” → “Completed entries” to find your receipts and your invitation. For receipts from past shows, use “Previous entries”.
- Keep the latest version after a change. If a correction is approved, download the updated document when it is available. Also keep the organisers’ reply: it will help you understand what was requested and accepted.
Advanced — three tips for tracking several entries
- Make one folder per dog and per show. A name like “2026-10-Oslo-Show” is enough. Put the receipt, invitation and exchanges together to avoid showing another dog’s card or another day’s.
- Keep the documents while a request is still open. Change, cancellation or refund: keeping the complete file makes it easier to look things up. On SCC Expo, refund requests follow the terms of the show’s own regulations; having the receipt therefore does not guarantee a refund.
- Use the receipts to track your budget. After each outing, note the entry and the options paid for, then add travel costs. Your documents will let you compare planned spending with actual spending.
The small trap to avoid
An entry confirmation relates to your entry in an event. The dog’s confirmation exam is a different procedure. For that exam, the documents required — notably identification, birth certificate and form — have to be prepared separately.
