Can you enter several dogs in a dog show?
The answer
Yes! You can enter several dogs in the same show. SCC Expo (the French kennel club’s entry platform) expressly provides for entering one or more dogs from your owner account. Each dog must first be registered in your profile, then entered in the chosen event. [1]
Two dogs, three dogs… so the little team can take part! The secret to a pleasant day is to prepare each entry separately and to organise the turns in the ring.
This article concerns shows in France. The FCI provisions mentioned apply to international CACIB shows held under its patronage.
Each dog has its own entry
Entering several dogs does not mean automatically entering a group. Each one must have its own individual class, its own details and, where the class requires it, its supporting documents.
At an FCI international show, a dog cannot be entered in two individual classes at the same show. It can, however, also take part in a group competition offered by the organiser, if it meets the conditions. [2]
Example: three dogs, three entries
Let’s imagine your dogs are the following ages on the day they are shown:
| Dog | Age | Example of a possible class at an FCI international |
|---|---|---|
| Rio | 7 months | Puppy |
| Nala | 12 months | Junior |
| Oslo | 3 years | Open |
You can enter them in the same show, each in its own class. These choices illustrate the age conditions; the other conditions of entry must also be checked. [2]
Several dogs: can you get a discount?
A discount is possible, but it is not automatic.
MyDogShow tip: work out multi-dog discounts owner by owner: arriving together is usually not enough to group dogs belonging to different owners to get a discount.
Read the show’s fee schedule: some classes have a special rate.
MyDogShow tip: expect a sliding rate from the first dog to the next ones, with separate prices for certain classes; the amounts change from one show to another.
What if my dogs have to be in the ring at the same time?
Arrange some help, especially if your dogs are in the same class or in different rings.
MyDogShow tip: ask someone you trust to handle one of your dogs if the classes overlap, keeping the entry in the owner’s name.
